Smart Place is an IoT system developed with the purpose of saving energy through the automatic control of air conditioning units. The system comprises: (a) a hardware device controlled by a Raspberry Pi, connected to humidity, temperature, motion sensors, and a camera; (b) a web platform responsible for data visualization and system management. The system turns on the devices when it detects the presence of people in the environment or when there is a forecasted use of the space within a 15-minute period. If these conditions are not met, then the air conditioning should be turned off.
In terms of technologies, Smart Place was developed using Java, Spring Framework, Raspberry Pi, Python, Flash, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and the FIWARE Platform.
It can be used for intelligent monitoring of environments for air conditioning control, effectively saving energy. This can be applied in the context of public agencies and private companies.
