A project of the Digital Metropolis Institute (IMD/UFRN) specializing in Smart City technologies, Smart Metropolis celebrated yesterday, the 12th, the official launch of its Central of Assistance and Dispatch (CAD) – a platform created to optimize public safety processes in Rio Grande do Norte.
The launch took place at an event at the RN School of Government at 10 a.m., marking the official recognition of the tool, which has been used for over two years by the Integrated Center for Public Security Operations (CIOSP-RN).
Present at the event were the director of IMD, Ivonildo Rêgo – representing the rector of UFRN, Professor José Daniel Diniz Melo – the faculty members Frederico Lopes and Nélio Cacho, coordinators of Smart Metropolis, and authorities such as the vice-governor of RN, Antenor Roberto, and State secretaries.
According to Lopes, the event represented a gratifying moment and recognition for the services provided over the past few years.
“The CAD is the result of a very interesting partnership with the CIOSP team, with whom we had a very distinct working dynamic. It is certainly very gratifying to see this launch happen, as the CAD is a solution that helps address one of the biggest problems in our country, public safety,” commented the coordinator.
At the event, the coordinators of Smart Metropolis were also honored by CIOSP, which presented them with certificates of recognition for the services provided to the Center.
For nearly 10 years, Smart Metropolis has maintained partnerships with the State Department of Public Security and Social Defense (SESED-RN), which are conducted by faculty members, students, CIOSP developers, and researchers.
Central
Used in the metropolitan region of Natal, the Central of Assistance’s main functionality is to integrate data to assist in managing police activities such as receiving phone calls to the 190 number, dispatching patrol cars, and monitoring incidents in real-time.
This year, the platform began receiving funding from the Association of the Public Ministry of the State of RN (Ampern), which has enabled a series of innovations in the system and the expansion of the Central to other municipalities in RN, starting with Mossoró.
Today, the CAD serves around 15 security agencies, linked to institutions such as the Military and Civil Police, Fire Department, Itep-RN, Samu, among others.
